Hello,

i?m using a german WinXP Pro on a notebook ASUS L5842GXUP. Please excuse my

way to describe my problems as i?m not that good with english language. But

i want to try here because the results seem to be better than in german

support forums.

Here are the problems:

In event log i?m shown entries from "removable storage device service" with

event-id 128. The cd-rom can?t read or work with a library.

A little solution i alread found out:

Sometimes i get back the entry in library for my CD-ROM Pioneer-K13AS if i

do those steps:

1. Stop removable storage device service

2. delete the cd-rom drive in device manager

3. delete the folder ntmsdata under %windir%\system32

4. restart the computer

After those steps most of time i get an entry under library pointing to my

cdrom drive. But after some time the removable storage device service stops

with id 98. after that there?s no entry in libraries anymore.

I watched a 2nd machine - there are 3 entries under ntmsdata. On my machine

i always get a bak-file too.

And the other big problem is:

When i insert a usb-stick i get the entry 111 in event log for the stick.

But even after all those messages and entries the devices (cd/dvd-burner,

usb-sticks) run!

But always there are notifications in event log about them.
