Re: A foolish statistic

I see that you put "never" in quotes. I get no desktop effects in VirtualBox.

I think I need to install Ubuntu unvirtualized to see its desktop effects.

Insults don't bother me. I am just pointing out how MVPs and YOU use

insults in a lame attempt to avoid the issues.

Ubuntu is getting new users at the expense of other strains of Linux.

Fedora, Red Hat and Suse are losing to it. Do not kid yourself that all new

Ubuntu users have dumped or intend to dump MS operating systems.

Why don't you go rescue them? Are you afraid of alt.os.linux.ubuntu? You

could use your usual polite manner. I'm sure that would convince a lot

of them to come running back home to Windows.

That doesn't make MS responsible for untrained/stupid sales clerks.

The same situation is very present in Audio/Video stores, where they

are hired, told to wear a tie and sent out on the floor. Everywhere

you go, this is very common. Car salesmen are no different, I went to

a dealer yesterday to have a look at some '08 models and stood there

aghast as some idiot told me that 'All Wheel Drive' & 'Four Wheel

Drive' is exactly the same thing, only they are 'marketed' different.

These days, you have to do your own research on products and that is

one very large benefit you get from the WWW.

Show one occasion where I have used an insult to try and avoid any issue?

Your definition of insult, avoid, and issue must be odd.

Re: Linux is FREE....Where are the users??????????????? LINUX is F

I couldn't agree more. There is much similarity between major computer

stores and car dealerships. Both rely on the customer not knowing anything

about the technical aspects, seeing only the sale as being important.

I can see why you like alt.os groups. I pulled out of helping in the alt.os.

windows groups. The regulars acted like pigs, and the people going for help

were insulted as a matter of course. There are a number of people trying to

bring this group down to the same level. Very sad.

They'll return on their own soon enough.

Are you afraid of alt.os.linux.ubuntu?

I don't really understand what that means so let me try and rephrase

your question so that it makes sense to normal people.

Am I stupid enough or desperate enough or dumb enough to waste my time

trolling a linux group...not in my life time.

You

Just using linux for a few days will convince 99% of them to come back.

You can bet on that.

Frank is a strong believer in leading by example:

1. He doesn't know when to use your from you're, makes constant

spelling and grammatical errors, yet pretends he runs a

marketing/advertising business where a better than average

grasp of good English is mandatory.

2. Frank calls everybody a drunk, liar, troll, worse.

3. Frank's manners: Says STFU, get out of here and don't come back.

Will repeat the same lies hundreds of times, accuses people

of being unethical, dishonest, in jail, criminals, crazy, etc..

4. Frank doesn't have the balls to list the name of his company

he pretends made him very wealthy, another of Frank's claims all

of which seem to be just figments of his imagination since he

always refuses to provide any proof on any of his claims.

In other words Frank is a real piece of work and never criticized by

any of his fellow fanboys. That speaks volumes who can be trusted and

who can't.

Re: Linux is FREE....Where are the users??????????????? LINUX is F

I think you are missing a major point.

"most major applications used on Windows which do NOT require

searching the internet"

How is a new Linux user going to find these if they do not search, the

internet or somewhere.

In the example The computer was purchased with Linux and doubtful ALL

the Linux compatible software installed.

It is not a "straw man" as someone else suggested.

The "probably" in the other posters comments sow that unless he also

makes assumptions on what a person wanting Linux already knows.

A good copywriter writes for the intended audience.

He's never called ME that.

Eventually, even the biggest dullards will get the message - if it's

repeated often enough. Don't you agree?

No need to do so. This is simply a tactic to change the terms of the debate.

Might as well insist on knowing his mother's maiden name as far as

relevancy.

Honor. Loyalty. Brotherhood. Values that count. They are everlasting. I may

"Insulting me rather than addressing the content..."

That fits your other post as well.

"...they probably also know more..."

And maybe they only know a very little.

However you are again free to ASSUME.

Different people will have different knowledge levels and it is

certain some will ask the questions you suggest are fantasies.

They are not fantasy, for some they are real and necessary for those

asking the questions.

The fact many sales people are ignorant of the product is irrelevant

since people will still ask.
