Guest Bird Byte Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I'm trying to set up an automated backup that uses (up to) a 5 tape rotation and fires daily. The idea is to do a weekly normal backup one day, and then differentials the next 4 days. Each week a different tape will be inserted. I'd like to configure the media so that no matter which tape is in the drive, the backup will find it and run (it's more important for us to ensure a daily backup than overwriting last week's data). Currently, all the tapes are named "Weekly", and each tape has a different description - Weekly 01, Weekly 02... I've added media using Removeable Storage Management and have had successful backups up until I introduced the Weekly; Weekly - 03 tape. Now the backup says it can't find the specified media. Is it possible to add multiple labels with the "SetDescription" switch, or should I just give all tapes the same set description? If I could add multiple descriptions would I also have to include multiple entries for "GUIDName"? Or is there a simpler solution? Here is the current configuration: C:\WINNT\system32\NTBACKUP.EXE backup "@C:\...\NTBackup\data\Weekly.bks" /n "Weekly" /d "Weekly - 03" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:on /m normal /j "Weekly.job" /l:f /g "c55314f1-36c9-4eca-b1a4-9c5e5d932f29" I'm assuming whatever is done for the weekly normal job will also have to be applied to the differential. Thanks for any help. Quote
