Posted February 9, 201212 yr I have license for Windows 2008 Server. I got it from the school. I was studying a course on Server Visualization. It was an 18 months course. School arrange me to get the program from 'dreamspark.com' website. I have used for about 2 years. Last week I reformatted the hard drive and tried in vain to install it. I got a message saying this is an illegal product. Why is that? I have the license key with me. Please help me.
February 9, 201212 yr FPCH Admin Was it installed before with the key you are trying? If it was then the key is no longer valid. Dreamspark keys are MAK keys good for one install only. Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
February 11, 201212 yr Author Thanks BSchwarz for the reply. Yes it has been working for about 18 months. I just reformatted the hard drive and tried in vain to install it. I had several partitions on the hard drive. In one I had Windows 2008 Server. The other partitions were different Linux versions. As a matter of fact, I had 2 hard drives. One got broken. So I was forced to remove it and reinstall all the programs. I didn't know this point. You can't install twice! I have downloaded Windows 2003 Server Program and SQL and lots of other programs from Dreamspark. I have never ever installed them. They should work. Am I right? What is MAK?
