windows xp home installation failure

After hard drive failure on my Compaq deskpro Pentium III and installation of

a new

hard drive (40gb) windows fails to install. Messages as follows:

***Stop 0x0000008E (0x0000005, 0x0000005, 0xF7638CAD 0xF724A7EA, 0,00000000)

***setupdd.sys - Address F7638CAD base at F760C000, date stamp 41107c8f
