Screen Saver not using password

After a recent clean install of Win XP home, I am trying to set a password

for the screen saver. I get the option of "on resume, password protect", but

when the screen saver activates, a mouse-move will bring the desktop back -

without a password or log-on prompt. There is only 1 user, and I use a

password to logon. The windows key & L works to lock the system, but the

screen saver won't. What am I doing wrong? I apologize in advance if I

missed the answer in hunting thru the other posts.
