missing security tab on network shares and local folders

I'm missing the security tab when I open the properties of local folders and

on network shares. However, the problem seems to be limited to my computer

and my user account.

 

I have taken the advice to take off 'Simple File Sharing' under the

'Tools'->'View' tab of Windows explorer. I have also verified that I have an

ntfs formatted disk. I was looking through Group Policy to see if that was

the culprit but I couldn't find a setting that would prevent me from viewing

the security tab.

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
