Guest David Smith Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 I am having problems recording: custom-built desktop with Intel DG965WH (version AAD41692-308; BIOS MQ96510J.86A.1987.2007.0258), 4GB RAM, WinXP Pro, SP2, fully patched. System tab in Control Panel shows 3.24 GB installed. When I ran Sound Recorder and pressed the stop key after 5 seconds or so of (attempted) recording, I got a message I have not seen before with that program, "Not enough memory to complete this operation. Quit one or more applications to increase available memory, and then try again.". Task Manager reports a "Commit Charge of 312M of memory, out of 5201M. The programs running are Skype 3.5 and Snagit 7, as well as a driver for a VoIPphone running as a process. The machine runs fine in general and I have had no other out of memory messages. I was able to record with Audacity 1.24b but only with one microphone input (rear); I cannot record at all with the front microphone jack. The store that built the machine is getting a new cable to connect the front jack to the motherboard, so my question is a software question, not a hardware question (so far as I know). Quote
