No desktop with two user accounts

Using Windows XP Professional SP2 on a Compaq Presario V6000 laptop

with 1 GB ram, cannot get system to complete boot one time in three

(no desktop) if there is more than one account with administrator

privileges. If there is only one account the system comes up fine in

12 seconds. Any ideas on what causes the failure to bring up the

desktop if there is more than one account?

In instances where the desktop doesn't come up, pressing the power

button to hibernate the system, and then restoring it, brings up the

desktop.
