Issues with Microsoft IE and Printing

A week ago became unable to access Microsoft IE. Have used Windows XP Version

5.1 for 3 years. Getting errors; one being: "Windows cannot access the

specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions

to access the item". I may have tried to change something in the system, but

not able to pinpoint what I may have done to correct. Also same with trying

to open Icons on Desktop if connected to IE.

Also have printer issues. I have an HP DeskJet 600C. Cked printer, it

printed a test page ok. Unable to print anything except some items off Yahoo

Email. I know a little about computers but need help from an expert.
