Guest najevi Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 imjpmig consuming excessive CPU cycles has been reported at this and other communities previously > http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/reader.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support&tid=a0e335b4-09f7-40f9-95fb-558284e476d8&cat=en-us-ms-winxp&lang=en&cr=US&sloc=en-us&m=1&p=1 > Recommendations range from removing the non-english language support or deselecting the imjpmig.exe from running. FYI: the relevant registry entry is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run!IMJPMIG8.1 I think those two options are as extreme as recommending a decapitation or a lobotomy as solutions for a migraine headache! One user needs the Japanese IME so disabling the service is not an option. The truly bizarre thing about this problem is that on the same XP SP2 machine I have 3 accounts yet the problem only appears for one of those accounts. I have tried creating a brand new user account and the problem appears for that brand new user account also. I have tried adding the brand new user account to the Admin group and the problem persists. Given the above I don't see how the root cause could be due to permissions for some registry key or file/folder. I can't say when this problem first appeared because the predominant user of the machine uses one of the two accounts that is not affected. The interim workaround is for the affected user to open task manager each time he logs in and kill the imjpmig process. Could somebody please explain the nuts and bolts of what is supposed to be achieved by the command "D:\WINDOWS\IME\imjp8_1\IMJPMIG.EXE" /Spoil /RemAdvDef /Migration32 or how I can isolate what is causing the process to hang for only some users of this machine?
