Guest UWRFREPORTER04 Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 I've been experiencing intermediate problems on Windows XP Pro machines with the desktop not loading correctly. I've figured out explorer.exe doesn't load. There is a work around if I type "explorer" under new task, but I would like to fix it. Basically a user logs in and it brings up a blue screen with no desktop, startmenu, task bar, etc. You're able to use ctrl-alt-delete to log off or shut down. I tried running sfc /scannow on my own machine. It prompted me to load my xp disk regarding a dll cache. I don't know if this fixed anything or not. I also read somewhere that deleting a registry file in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplorer.exe can fix it, but I don't have that entry and I don't want to delete anything in the registry unless I know what I'm doing. I thought the problem was due to using roaming profiles, but I'm not sure anymore and would like some advice. These pcs are new dells and they all had the OS repaired and a few had a clean install done when they first arrived. Any ideas???? Quote
