Red gone on display

Obviously the first thing to check was the monitor. I checked the monitor menus, they display red so no problem with the monitor itself. Then I ruled out the cable connection with a different monitor, which displayed the same problem. I know the other monitor and cable works because I use it downstairs all the time.

 

So what else could it be? Nvidia 6100 chipset faltering? The plugin port on the tower? Software? It seems to occur randomly as well. No specific time it changes (it actually just changed back to normal right now).

I would say it a problem with the port on the monitor.
