wilhelmine Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I have an existing Windows Server 2008 machine serving as domain controller, file server, and dns. I need to encrypt the data. a) Can I turn on Bitlocker and encrypt existing data? B) Will users be able to access network shares just as they always did? We have a mixture of XP, Windows 7, and Mac clients. c) What are the potential trouble spots if I proceed? Thank you. Quote
ICTCity Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Bit locker encrypts the data on hard drive, not on network. That means if I try to read your HD with a live cd I can't... But if your server is alive and I have access to server's resources, I can read data. Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais.
