Preserve monitor layout in dual-head setup across sessions

Is there any way to have XP remember the monitor layout between

reboots? I have a dual-head setup, and sometimes (but not always) XP

preserves the resolution settings on the two monitors, but it never

seems to preserve the relative position of the two monitors. The

secondary monitor is supposed to be to the left of the monitor, but I

always have to reset it after every reboot.

A related question is whether there is any way to get XP to remember/

autodetect different multi-head setups. My two monitors at home are

different from my two monitors at work. I find myself always having to

reset the resolutions when switching between them.
