What Limit Does Microsoft Have With Windows Activation?

I am having problems transferring the partitions of my current set of disc

drives onto a replacement set of drives. Using a trail and error method I

would like to experiment with different boot partitions on three disk drives.

One of these is my current drive and the other two will eventually be my

replacement drives. Obviously only one of the two new drives will end up

holding the boot partition.

Each time Windows is booted from a different drive the activation process

with a three day grace period kicks in. The grace period on all three of my

drives has already been used. The question I would like to have answered is:

If Windows is moved several times between three drives using otherwise the

same hardware, is there any limit as to the number of times it can be

activated?

A detailed explanation of this problem and what has been done to date can be

found on this thread at

http://www.windowskb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/windows-xp-hardware/41796/Procedure-to-Transfer-Windows-OS-From-a-RAID-Array

. If that link does not work the title of it is: Procedure-to-Transfer-

Windows-OS-From-a-RAID-Array to a SATA Drive. After more than a week without

any suggestions or solutions to the problem and questions posed there, it

seems extremely unlikely any help will be coming. Reposting the same effort

on this thread beyond what has been done here would be not be polite.

Thanks,

Rich
