Dear all,

 

Based on your expertise, is it possible for me to boot my Dell

Inspiron

1300 from an usb external HDD?

 

 

I'm planning to use Win XP Pro. I have checked through the BIOS in

which there's an option for Boot device: "USB Storage".

 

 

Is it possible? If yes, i'll go on and buy an USB External HDD.

    You cannot install XP on an external hard drive. The BIOS of your

    Inspiron probably does support booting from a USB device, but it won't

    do you any good if you're thinking of installing XP on an external hard

    drive.
