I'm getting no USB icons in the systray when I plug something in. Everything

works OK, but then I have no way of stopping the item before I unplug. So I

just go ahead and unplug it. I get a little "pop" noise, but no error

messages.

same as me mate,

i installed my digital camera drivers succesfully. it saids hardware is now

ready to use and i cant see the icons but it makes the popping noise. please

helps us!

You mean the Safely Remove Hardware icon is missing? If some of your system

tray icons do not appear when the computer boots up, try logging off then

immediately log back on again as the same user. If nothing else is wrong the

missing icons should appear. At least until the next reboot.

Wonder if that's some new Windows thing where you don't have to do it any

more?

No, that doesn't work. Every time I log on, I get the same thing.

The only time disconnecting a USB device might be a problem is if

Windows is trying to write to it or access it.

Otherwise, disconnect at will

Click Start, Run, and type "control hotplug.dll" (without the quotes). Then

click OK. You may find the icon comes back. If not, create a shortcut with

the same command.
