Adding key ports for MSN Messenger?

Hi, well, recently I downloaded and installed an upgrade for MSN Messenger

Plus. Everything was fine until it tried logging back in. It would report

an error and when I tried to trouble it said that there might be an improper

firewall setting. I was wondering if opening up a port would make it work,

and if so, how to accomplish that.

    Don't know much about Plus, but I can tell you that file transfer uses ports

    6891 - 6900
