Why is my external drive now showing up as the System volume?

This weekend I installed Windows server 2003 on a clean machine with no other

data on the drives. After the installation I turned on the external firewire

drive I plan to use for backups and allowed the drivers to install normally.

Over the last few days I've had some problems with the external drive and my

backup software and went to format the drive to try to start over. It was at

this point that I noticed under the Disk Manager that while my internal C: is

listed as (Boot), the external E: is shown as (System). Well no wonder I

can't format it...

How did my external drive wind up as the system volume, and how can I move

this back to C: where it belongs? Is it possible to do without rebuilding the

entire server yet again?
