I had a problem the other day with a usb modem (the usb port it was on

decided to die) driving me crazy and 2 questions came up during that

hope anybody can point me in the right direction googling believe it

or not didn't help :)

Where are the settings for Local Connections? or how can I access a

Local Connections settings when the device it is assigned isn't

connected, to say it's icon isn't there? Found a meager 4 entries in

registry but those no matter what I changed didn't have an effect and

there where no DNS IP values.

Now connecting the usb modem to another port would always create a new

connection, how could I assign it to use an existing Local Connection

1? tried changing the aforementioned registry entries usb device port

to the other one but it didn't work, maybe it didn't like the

different device driver set (#2) windows installed for it?

And the other question how can I tell windows to use the same device

drivers instead of creating a new set connecting the same device to a

different usb port.

Windows making everything unavailable when not connected is pushing my

buttons.

Hope someone could shed some light on this for me.

Greets,

Maxwell,

Who makes this USB modem?

What is the make/model?

Have you tried the makers support site?

What port are you talking about?

Is it listed in COMPUTER MANAGEMENT or DEVICE MANAGER?
