Like or not....I went ahead and transferred my Dell Musicmatch (which I know

how to use and is no problem for me) to the New!!! Yahoo!!! music jukebox.

I just hate change...something new to learn again. I see that we are

supposed to make this transfer by August 31.

My question... will I still be able to use what I already have on Dell

Musicmatch. I would think so as it is on my hardrive and cant see that it

will just disappear from the computer.

Also I use a RCA Lyra RD 1076 mp3 player that is not listed as one that

can be used with the Yahoo! music jukebox. I guess that means I must now

buy one that is compatible with Yahoo!!! or do you think I can still use my

Dell Musicmatch music that I already downloaded and in the program.

I would appreciate any help as I have no one else to ask but this group.

Thank you in advance

Bullhockey. Don't ever take a 'forced upgrade' when it comes to

MusicMatch. Where does it say that you must 'transfer' and 'transfer'

what ?

I'm still running an old version of MusicMuch. But Yahoo's forced

OldVersion.com to remove older versions. Sumbeeyatch !

If you want to revert back to the previous version, use the supplied

Dell CD to locate the installer. It would be on the 'Programs and

Applications' CD, methinks. Uninstall the Yahgoo version first, then

install the version on the Dell CD.

Dell Musicmatch will no longer be available after August 31. Apparently

Yahoo bought them out. When I click on the icon Musicmatch I get a message

that asks me to chanage/upgrade to Yahoo! Music Jukebox 2.1

If you only listen to music stored on your PC/portable devices, then

there's no need to upgrade. They're not going to come into your house

and take it away, are they ? <w>

Cindy, where do you buy your music from? What does that site require you to

use? That's the only reason I can think of to use a different music player

- to obtain music from your favorite online store. Some stores require

specific software. Others are more lenient.

I remember skimming an article about Yahoo striking a deal with a few

companies. I don't remember the details though. If they're taking over the

Dell music store, you'll probably want to update your music licenses to the

"new" store. If you ever lose your music, those licenses entitle you to

download replacement copies of purchased items.

Once you have your licenses squared away...

Consider burning those songs to CD, DVD. If possible, choose a generic

format that is used by many players.

Re: Dell musicmatch and now - Yahoo music Jukebox need some help

Thank you Sharon for the information. I still need some more help. I

do not plan on paying for any of the Yahoo music jukebox. I do not buy

music and would not use any of the pay stuff that they are offering. My

library is from my CD's which I have been putting on to my MP3 player. I

am not happy about the switch to the new program. My MP3 is not

compatible with Yahoo and I do not want to buy a new MP3 player.

I see when I do a search that (of course) now all my music has been put

into Yahoo Music Jukebox from Dell Musicmatch. I do not want Yahoo, and

would rather use Dell Musicmatch which I am familiar with.

I would like to have Musicmatch as my default player. How can I do

that??? Can I go to remove programs in Control Panel and remove Yahoo

Jukebox 2.1 ? when opening Musicmatch I get a window everytime telling

me to change to Yahoo!

I can't believe I am the only one who does not want Yahoo!!! and would

just like to stay to stay with what they are now using (dell musicmatch)

Thank you

Then, as Mow already has said, you can use any MP3 player and completely

skip the Yahoo MJB.

I believe that you're not the only one avoiding the switch. Do NOT pay for

the Yahoo Music Match.

All you need for music you already own is a player. Any player. If the Dell

MM is coughing up advice to switch to Yahoo, either look in that programs

settings for a way to turn that off. OR just get regular Music Match and

skip the Dell and Yahoo affiliations altogether.

I take it you've already installed the Yahoo version since you mention it

has adopted your music. Make sure you have copies of your music. Then

uninstall this Yahoo version. It shouldn't delete your music files but you

just never now. Make copies to be on the safe side.

Once Yahoo is gone, start up your preferred player. If that happens to be

the Dell one, look for menus to disable its notices about the Yahoo player.

Then use its menus to reassociate the files with it. NOTE: If you run into

trouble, reinstall the program. The installation process will rebuild the

association for you. Then rebuild your library and you should be back where

you started.
