The "My Computer" folder automatically opens every time that you log on to a

Windows XP ?

I cheked the Reg. key - HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows

NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

for a value of Userinit. Its value is = C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,

I checked the knowledge base and tried to solve the problem. The KB

describes the cure like this:

Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Explorer\Advanced

In the right pane, right-click PersistBrowsers, and then click Modify.

In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, type 0 under Value data, and then click

OK.

But I could not find the "PersistBrowsers" in the same way as it decribed.

Please help me...

Do you see it listed in your Startup folder?

Open a run command and type in:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll click [OK]

Reboot your machine, does it help?

System32 Folder Opens When Logging on to Windows

This can also be caused by Blank entry in the Run at Start Up and causing

the system32 to start up and not pointing to a correct path or app.

Open a run command and type in:

regedit.exe click [OK] and locate these two Keys:

[-]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run =

Delete any Empty entry like this "/" or " ".

[-]HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run =

Delete any Empty entry like this "/" or " ".
