Sorry for posting to so many NGs. This is just so strange that I don't know

what to do and am looking for any help I can get.

 

 

 

A client has reported a strange problem. According to her, she leaned on her

Dell win xp desktop keyboard by mistake and some keys were pressed which

caused the screen image to rotate 90 degrees. She does not know which keys

were pressed. To compensate for rotated image, she has rotated her monitor

90 degrees in the other direction and is working like this at the moment.

Does anyone know what may have caused this and what is the solution?

Depends on the video card and graphic drivers. With NVidia drivers, you can

go to the display properties and fix it:

 

right-click desktop, select Properties

go to Settings tab and click Advanced

on the GeForce tab, select the NVRotate node

select Landscape and click OK twice

 

She probably has a hotkey assigned to this function.

"Alt Gr" + Arrow up or down.

Some graphics cards come with utilities or an option to rotate your display.

Most likely to be found in the Display/Advanced option.

 

Click on Start/Control Panel/Display/Setting Tab, Advanced button or it

could be an

Icon in the control panel specifically for the Video Card you have.

 

The following may also work: CTRL+ALT+Up arrow on some but not all video

cards.

In the system tray on the right hand side is a monitor control panel

icon. She hit a hot key.

It's actually a common problem.

 

It's a feature of her video card, to support using a monitor that

works in portrait orientation. Try Ctrl-Alt-Up Arrow (or sometimes

Ctrl-Shift-R).

screen properties, should contain information about hotkey assignments

and how to change them.
