FPCH Admin AWS Posted February 11, 2007 FPCH Admin Posted February 11, 2007 Error 1706 is a bad resource error. Does the error reference any programs? Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
bobbyb21 Posted February 12, 2007 Author Posted February 12, 2007 The followins occurs when I start my computer. A window opens, C:\ProgramFiles\Common is the folder. The contents of the folders is "eliteupd.ini" Next Windows Installer tries to install to install InstantShareDevices. The install bar gets about 3/4 way complete. It then stops and the followings box appears: The feature you are trying to use in on a CD-Rom or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the "InstantShareDevice" Disk and click "ok" Use source has the number 1, I click ok and I get a message "The "1" path cannot......and tells me to find the IstantShareDevices.msi I eventually have to hit cancel and the I get the following message: Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product InstantShareDevices. The windows installer cannot continue. I am not sure this will be of any help, but thanks anyway. Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted February 12, 2007 FPCH Admin Posted February 12, 2007 This might be some help. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301 Use the tool on that page. It should clean up the problem. Another thing you could do is remove the program in the startup folder. If it isn't in there use msconfig and look for any reference to eliteupd.ini or the instasharedevices. After you disable it I would scan for spyware. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
