dave_mwi Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Windows XP SP2 Device in Question: "Microsoft Wirelss Desktop Receiver 3.1" or any other "USB composite device" I have a problem with my system where it will not recognize devices that need to first be 'loaded' as a USB composite device. A good example is wirless receivers for keyboard/mouse combos. Neither Logitech nor Microsoft wireless combos work, I have to plug them directly into the ps2 ports. In trying this on another computer, I saw that it was first loaded as a USB composit device...I then tried to manually select the USB Composite Device driver on my problem computer - BUT, I don't have it. In the Hardware Wizard this device driver is found in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers category, but it's totally empty. So, my question is, how do I get the USB Composite Device drivers back onto my system? Is this a motherboard releated driver? I tried my motherboard site, Asus, but they have nothing for download along these lines. I have no problems with my motherboard working as far as I can tell. It just seems "USB Composite" devices are not recognized properly - probably because I don't have something setup right on my system. FYI - I do have usbhub.sys and usbccgp.sys in my c:\windows\system32\drivers folder - not sure if that helps. I have installed the Microsoft Intellipoint software countless times as well as Logitechs mouse and keyboard software, it never works. The receiver is never recognized first as a USB Composite Device. I can usually solve most any issue that comes up, but this one has me quite stumped...any help you can offer is a life saver! Thanks. FPCH Admin AWS Posted February 4, 2007 FPCH Admin Posted February 4, 2007 Try uninstalling the USB drivers. Then shutdown and let Windows install them again. It sounds like you have a buggy driver or possibly a bad USB controller on the motherboard. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
