Posted June 8, 200618 yr I've had 2 hard drives on my computer for some time now working fine- no problems. For reasons that I won't go into , I had a need to reinstall XP which went fine except that my second hard drive has disappeared from My Computer. I'm positive it is a software rather than hardware problem since I have not touched any of the hardware. Any ideas as to what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.
June 8, 200618 yr It probably is just a minor software issue, but first I need to ask if the drive shows up in the BIOS. . .
June 9, 200618 yr OK, then you might wanna recheck the cables and the jumper settings on both drives first. If the BIOS isn't seeing it, then windows isn't either. Remember the master drive will go at the end of the 40 pin ribbon and the slave drive goes in the middle. Make sure both drives are set correctly with the jumpers on them. . .
August 1, 200618 yr is it shown in disk management i guess yes, coz it's quite a common problem, so go there and right click on this drive, then choose an option some think like "change drive letter".
