Posted March 1, 200618 yr Hey all, I just gave my buddy an extra stick of Corsair XMS platinum memory and now his machine won't fire up. The stick is a 1024MB CMX-3200PT. He's got: HP Pavillion a350y P4 2.8ghz 1 gig of value ram (2x512) 120 Mgbytes HD ATI 9800 pro video card 128mb ram 4 slots for up to 4gb of single or dual-channel memory on the mobo The PC powers on but no post, just blank black screen with fans a go. Any ideas why it doesn't work with it? I looked on crucial.com and it seems this memory should work with this machine. Thanks.
March 1, 200618 yr Author Nevermind All. I found this out on my own, but if anyone else should need to know, the Pavilion a350y only "supports up to 512 MB non-ECC DDR-DIMM modules for a maximum of 2.0 GB system memory" in 4 slots. Damn HP. Hope this helps someone.
