Here's the scoop.

I have a corrupt mini cruzer, 256MB. Windows XP recognizes the drive [ I am able to view all properties for the drive via Disk management ], but will only allow an application, such as File Explorer, Winzip, RescuePRO, etc. to access the device "one time" and will not allow subsequent access to the drive Let me explain the above statement by example.

RescuePRO is able to access the drive during it's initial file scan phase and is able to detect all files. However, the second phase of execution (involving file reads) fails. Another example. Winzip is able to correctly catalog all files on the drive to be archived, but then fails when the archive step is reached.

Is there a utility out there that is able to copy the contents of the drive (or at least one file) during the initial access to the drive???

Thanks....

It sounds like the actual data portion is corrupted, but the file table is intact. You need a low-level recovery utility that can try to reconstruct the data portion. No guarantees, but it might work.
