mikehende Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I downloaded a few screensavers and got 3 Pup [potentially unwanted programs] in my pc, when I did a virus scan 3 adware programs showed up; 1] If I were to "delete" those 3 adware programs will I still have be able to keep and use the screensavers? 2] If the answer to question 1 is "no" then if I were to "quarantine" the 3 adwares, would I be able tokeep and use the screensavers? 3] I really love those screensavers and would like to keep them, if the answer to 1 and 2 is "no", keeping the adwares in my pc as they are, would this do any "harm" at all? If so, what harm can those adwares do? Thanks. Quote
GavinO Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 1 - Depends on the design of the screensavers. If they are written to check for the associated baddies, then no, they won't work. 2 - See above 3 - It's bad for performance, stability, and most importantly security to have unknown ad/spy/malware running. If you find any, kill it off without question.
