I downloaded and attempted to install SP2 to my laptop. Something went wrong:

1. Can only sporadically get the icons in Control Panel;

2. Many "snap-ins" are un-available or not there;

3. Very slow startup and shutdown;

etc.

 

I want to remove the SP2 and reinstall it but am not sure how to go about it.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you chose to save the files that sp2 overwrites or removes during the install then you can uninstall it by using add/remove programs. If you didn't save the files, by default it saves them and you'd have to check the box to not save them, then the only way is to format and re-install XP.
