Posted July 17, 200519 yr when opening text file using wnbrowse the text is gibberish; little squares instead of text. to read the text i click the "options" and "select font". i then change the "script" from "western" to any other, for example greek. the text is then readable. but i cannot save the setting and the problem reappears as soon as i open the file. as a matter of fact the problem reappears if i switch from text to hex mode and back again to text mode. the font i am using is courier new and works perfectly using wordpad so the font is not the problem. wnbrowse version 4.8b, using win98se.
July 18, 200519 yr Sorry, I'm not familiar with that software program. Have you concidered a different HEX viewer ?? . .
July 18, 200519 yr Author i am sure that if you download it at http://www.ngthomas.co.uk you'll see why i have been using it for almost ten years. until it started playing tricks it was (and is) a great program.
July 19, 200519 yr Author found the solution. i found on the EXTREME forum that too many fonts in the fonts folder can cause problems. i had recently added 403 ttf fonts thinking it can't hurt. well, lo and behold i removed them and the GIBBERISH problem disappeared not only from the WNBROWSE program but from my messenger which also showed unreadable lines. thanks.
