I-E had a message 39 on the drivers for my CD-ROM and CD?RW drives after installing XP. I did a search after being totally at my wits end and finally stumbled across the answer to fix it by going to regedit and deleting an upper filter and a lower filter in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFFC1-08002BE10318}

HOWEVER, with spouse and children running in and out aggravating me I misread that the next 7-8 keys were not the same thing and deleted a few other upper and lower filters, now my mouse and keyboard does not work and can do nothing with the computer. I installed a second mouse and keyboard, this time USB and it shows that it installed them and that they are working properly but I cannot use them. Any suggestions.

I have work that I need ASAP saved on the computer. Please Help!

Did you try booting into safe mode and doing a system restore ?? that should correct the registry error.

I tried to boot into safe mode but once Windows initializes keyboard and mouse quit working. I can use them in BIOS and DOS. I ran the Recovery console and chose R for recover and it ran through but still have the problem. Any help is appreciated.
