Posted June 21, 200519 yr Hello, I recently reinstalled Tomb Raider III on my PC and played for about 4hrs. I have done this before without incident. After exiting the game I observed that my display had several dark horizontal lines. I have subsequently noticed that where ever there is black text that in that same line there is a dark horizontal band going across the entire screen, almost as if there is a smudge however the margins of theses bands are well defined. Whenever Win XP is loading and reaches the welcome screen then the same occurs with the white welcome text against the blue background. So the problem is that white text forms a white band against a dark background and black text also forms a dark against a white or light background. Additionally colours also don't appear to look as they did before. Yellow, green and red appear to have gotten brighter than before and the background for my start menu wich was white is now totally gray(which I presume is like a smudge effect from all the text present in the menu). I have run both Norton's antivirus 2005 and also tried McAfee antivirus Pro 2003 neither of which detected a virus. I did not make any changes to my display settings and can't think of a plausible cause for this problem or its solution. I also detached my monitor and attached it to another computer and it works just fine and whenever I print anything the bands don't show up on the printed document. Please assist me if you have a solution for this problem. Thanks in advance.
June 21, 200519 yr This is a fairly common issue with analog video interfaces. Sometimes a quick cable jiggle will clear things up, or there may be some form of interference (try running the cable away from the rest of the PC's cables). Usually, though, its just a sign of an aging display or graphics adapter. -The Gavster Three students died that year at the academy; one was executed, one was killed in a training accident, and one died of natural causes, for a knife to back will naturally kill anyone. -RA Salvatore Like to IRC?
