alxjm69 Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 Hi all :D Well...I've gotten an Adaptec 29160 SCSI card and a 50 GIG LVD SCSI Drive. I have multiple OS's from DOS to WINXP. Here's the problem ALL OF THE OS's recognize the SCSI card, no problem there. BUT If I plug in the drive ONLY WIN98 & WINME cannot get past it's boot up sequence. I dont even get to see the or can conjure up the WINDOWS menu with F8 either. All other OS's are fine including WIN95. There are no IRQ conflicts whatsoever. I've tried different slots and still the same occurence. WIN98 & WINME will boot up fine If I unplug the drive itself. Its only when I plug the drive in that it chokes,..yet, all the other OS's are fine and see the SCSI card and the drive. I have System Commander as the OS manager. KT7A RAID Board 512MB RAM AMD 900 Mhz Adaptec 29160 SCSI Card Also have partitons C thru S. Up to date on all patches and BIOS's for all devices. Im at a loss here, cant seem to figure out what the problem is, and Adaptec is no help. Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted April 2, 2005 FPCH Admin Posted April 2, 2005 Does the scsi bios load or does it even get that far? The only thing I can think of is a setting in the scsi bios has to be changed so it works on 9x. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
alxjm69 Posted April 3, 2005 Author Posted April 3, 2005 Yes,...the scsi card bios does boot and go past that....it just halts right before the windows 98/me boot menu even gets to load up. Cant even manage to comeup even if I hit the F8. Ive looked for menu settings on the scsi card itself but cant seem to find anything so far that helps,..but, I'll look into more of that anyways. And thanks for the reply. Quote
