Hello,

I am having some trouble setting up my various hard drives. My Bios says

IDE Channel 0 Master CD-ROM 56X

IDE Channel 0 Slave Maxtor 5T040H4

IDE Channel 1 Master None

IDE Channel 1 Slave 24x10

I have one SATA HD connected to the SATA 1 port on my motherboard, and then my old HD is slave (middle ribbon clip) and the CD-ROM is master (end ribbon clip) and that is connected to IDE 1 on my motherboard the CD R/W is connected as master to the IDE 2 on the motherboard, and the floppy is connected to the FDD on the motherboard. Could it be that I have a bad SATA HD? because that is not showing up anywhere on this BIOS list.

Regards,

The IDE listing won't give you your SATA drives. I've never used a mobo with a SATA controller onboard, but my hunch is that the drive listing from the SATA controller will come up at some point soon after the PATA listing. You should in any case get something saying nothing is connected.
