did windows update, now no connection

hello everyone,

 

I've encountered a frustating problem. A friend of mine wanted me to update his computer and the first thing i did was to run a windows update since it appeared to me that it has not been done in awhile. After installing the updates and restarting, I noticed that the computer was slightly slower and I was no longer able to connect to the internet.

 

I went into run cmd and pinged some website addresses. The computer had no problem sending data, but received only the packets that the ping sent.

 

I am wondering if it's the updates that messed up the connection. Please help!

edit:

I went into the system information and he is running 5.1.2600 SP1 I dont know if that will help.
