I finally got round to formatting and reinstalling Windows at the weekend, as it had got so clogged it was taking as much as 5 minutes to read a directory in Explorer. However my games ran fine and without lag. After reinstalling XP (now with SP2) and a couple of other programs (which were installed before anyway). Since the reinstall when i run Warcraft3 online i seem to suffer from serious lag, i mean really really bad lag - which i never suffered from before. I cant see why my empty system is lagging so much more then before. The only new thing is SP2 and bit-torrent, i have disabled the built in Firewall on SP2, to no effect - and bit-torrent isnt actually downloading anything anyway.

Can anyone suggest anything i could try to resolve this issue pls? I think its the computer not the connection.

Thanks.

I've seen people play WC3 on SP2 machines without incident, so I know it can be done. I have, however, also seen problems with SP2 either throttling connections or limiting the number of connections, for reasons unknown. I would try fiddling whatever security settings you can find to see if you can affect the WC3 performance.

Thanks. I have tried completely stopping all SP2 related security issues, but it had little effect. I tried it again last nite, it wasnt lagging as badly - but still a lot more then it use too. I think its probably just one of those things.
