i have a ge force fx5700 and when i go to play games i either get runtime error or it just crashes to a black screen and i hear sound for probably 5 more seconds then i need to turn off the power...How do i fix this?.. i have a 430 watt antec power supply , amd 2400+ , 512 ddr ram, mobo is albatron kx400+ pro

Hi m8 i had the same probs aswell i upgraded all the drivers like i was to do so and everything went like yours did i removed the drivers and removed the card rebooted the comp then i installed the drivers then shut down the comp reinstalled the gfx card and then powered up and i have had no probs since then basically use the drivers that come with the card i do and im trouble free hope i helped you out here

i wouldn't recommend using the drivers that ship with the card, i haven't used the shipped drivers since my rage128.

 

newer drivers fix game issues and instability issues, and while the newest version won't always agree with your hardware setup, it's by far better using something recnet than the shipped drivers.

 

now do you have your card overclocked? if so run it at default. otherwise like said make sure you have the latest mobo drivers for your chipset, and try completely uninstalling your old dets using det destroyer and then reinstall the newest dets and see if that helps.
