for those of us who have boards with only a 4bit fid as opposed to a 5bit that link will help you to run your cpu at multi's 13x and up. in case you didn't know, a 4bit fid only allows you to chose from half of the multipliers. the half you get is based on the default multiplier of your cpu.

this mod is only needed if you can't oc your fsb any higher and still have headroom on your cpu. i'm sure there's a wire trick to get the lower set of multipliers too if you need them instead.

i did this wire trick in about 10 minutes and booted up first try with no problems. have my mobile barton running at 13x192 (2.5ghz) which is up from 2.4 at 12.5. i still have some headroom if i increase my voltage, i could easily get 2.6ghz if i didn't mind the heat.

if you don't have a mobile or an unlocked chip this mod will not help you.

if i come across a wire trick for the lower set of multi's i will post it asap.

Neat trick. Its a shame that scammers selling OC'ed chips have forced manufacturer's to lock down processor speeds like that. What I've always wondered is how people come up with these ... I suppose that if you can find what the pinouts are, you could make a guess, but it still seems pretty hit or miss (with a big miss penalty!)

yeah, not sure how they come up with em. i'm sure lots of research goes into it though. i'm sure with the right documents someone with enough experience could figure it out pretty easily.
