Posted May 19, 200420 yr Hey ho yo! :) Lil problem here, both of my CD-Rom and Dvd-rom stopt working... magically. I just can't get them to work anymore, I try uninstalling them and reinstalling em (....well.. winXP does it for me... dunno if its a good thing), but nothing! The icons appear, but if I double click on them, it says somthing like Windows cannot read the disc, it could be damadged or in a format not supported by windows. (somthing like that, I have frenchy windows =/). It was working yesterday except it just stop working tonight :( I got: Sony CD-RW CRX175A1 Sony DVD-ROM DDU1621 So hrm yea... any clue? I can't seem to find the correct drivers... so if someone knows where I could download I download em, it could help :) Thanks for those who consider helping me ... *bow*
May 19, 200420 yr Try these two searches for the drivers. CRX175A1 DDU1621 Are both of these devices on the same IDE controller? Are they being found by BIOS during startup?
May 19, 200420 yr Author hmmm... IDE? no clue, how could I find out? And for the bios boot, I tryed that peviously and it does read my cd-rom. I tryed changing bios option set cd-rom as first boot device and poped my windows cd, and it worked jsut fine, and I tryed my dvd-rom, worked aswell.
May 19, 200420 yr The IDE controller is the spot on the mother board where the ribbon cable attached to the drives connect to. But since you can see both drives in BIOS and you can set them as boot devices, I don't think that the IDE controller is the issue. I would go with trying to find the drivers (hopefully the search links above helped in locating them). Another thing to check is in the Hardware Device Manager, see if there are any conflicts for the devices. The Properties dialog for the devices should also include a "Troubleshooting" button (as well as other information concerning the device and the installed drivers).
May 19, 200420 yr Author wellll.... I have trouble finding a driver for it... I'v done searches before, and all I'd get are like.. scam sites, or lots of post of this one forum about ppl asking where can the drive be found, and no replies... "Another thing to check is in the Hardware Device Manager, see if there are any conflicts for the devices. The Properties dialog for the devices should also include a "Troubleshooting" button (as well as other information concerning the device and the installed drivers)." Done that... ...says no conflict, says it's working properly...
