February 23, 200420 yr Author have you installed all of the windows updates? and also try updateing your video drivers. and when is the blue screen the most common? like during what activities? Yes I have installed the latest chipset drivers all windows updates all vidcard updates sound card updates ect ect ect. It tends to happen randomly but usualy while on the net or in a high res game vid card is running correctly tried it in 2 other comps one a p3 500 and the other a 1.5gh p4(?3) and it worked fine the soundcard is new as is one of the cdroms and the processor and memory and the motherboard memory and cpu were all installed where i bought the comp and has been brought it to them once due to this cost me 40 bucks..........they ran prime 95 on it for 6 hrs with no prob i can get it to run like 1 min if lucky...............talk about frustrating
February 23, 200420 yr you say they tested the system as it is now with prime95 for 6 hrs? have you been able to get prime95 to run for extended periods yourself? seems like it's a video problem, maybe some incompatibility between the video card and motherboard. you may want to try a new bios for the mobo. if prime95 ran for 6 hrs i doubt it's memory related, unless the people lied to you, but that is doubtfull. so i'd say try a newer bios, and/or try a different video driver version, possibly an older one, as not all video drivers tend to work great on all setups, aka newer is not always better. you could possibly even try an older set of motherboard drivers if changing the bios or video drivers does not work. other than that, i'm stumped myself:confused: Abit NF7-S V2.0 (Merlin D25) WinXP Pro SP2 Enermax EG465P-431watt XP2600-m (Barton IQYHA 0348) @ 2.52ghz (11x229 vcc1.80 vdd1.7 vdm2.90) SLK-800 (lapped 2k grit) + Tornado 84cfm + AS5 OCZ EL Platinum PC3200 2x512 (cas2.5 3-3-11) SB Audigy2 + Inspire 5500 5.1 Saphire 9800np-PRO (416/360 (3.3ns samsung) 4.7 Omega) 18k 3dmark2k1se 6.2k 3dmark2k3 Extreme Tech Support

February 24, 200420 yr have all the updated bios and chipset drivers for MB have tried running just the disk that came with vidcardand that chipset. How would i get an older bios version and would that realy be a good idea???? nvidias site i believe has some older driver versions, otherwise try http://www.guru3d.com/ btw as long as they're not seriously dated, you'll be fine. just make sure the driver you pick looks to be a popular one, or one that's rated highly. If they ran it for 6 hours with no problem did they play the games or just let it sit...............? Also did you take the whole computer or just the tower? If only the tower then it does narrow it down. Ya think....
March 2, 200420 yr by computer i'm almost positive he means the case and it's innards. the monitor and all that stuff shouldn't have any bearing on his particular problem. March 16, 200420 yr PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA stop: 0x00000050 (0xB40705B5C, 0x00000000, 0xBF840B45, 0x00000000) Win32k.sys - address BF840B45 base at BF800000, Date Stamp 3f73195d This is more then likely caused by your video card. I have seen this many times withe XP and nVidia vid cards. I would boot into safe mode, uninstall your current video drivers, remove the video card from device manager and do a refresh(do not let XP reinstall the drivers) then install the latest reference drivers from nVidia, also you may want to disable memory caching in your BIOS as well. I have also seen where anti virus programs cuase this error as well, so as a first step disable you AV progam first and see if the cures the problem, if it does you may need an update to the program or a new one altoghter (I recommend AVG as it is not such a resource hog like Symantec). You also didn't say if your file system was NTFS or FAT32, if NTFS you could have a corrupt file system, in which case you need to boot from the XP cd and select repair from recovery console then at the prompt type Chkdsk /f/r to detect and repair disk errors. Good luck and I hope I have been of some help.
