razor-x Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 I have bought the ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard, and the Coolermaster Wavemaster case. The case has a top unit that contains firewire, USB, and an earphone jack + microphone jack. My question is that in th cases top unit, the microphone/earphones jacks have 4 single pin(female) connectors. Where should these be plugged in on the motherboard. There is no documentation that I have been able to find. Many thanks for any help. Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted February 6, 2004 FPCH Admin Posted February 6, 2004 They'll plug into the soundcard. If your motherboard has onboard sound they plug into the sound header on the board. Usually this is found near the back of the board. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
razor-x Posted February 6, 2004 Author Posted February 6, 2004 They'll plug into the soundcard. If your motherboard has onboard sound they plug into the sound header on the board. Usually this is found near the back of the board. Thanks for the response, but I have a further question. The audigy has a connector that looks similar to an IDE connector (with about 30 pins) which is intended to go the the Audigy control panel (front mounted). Would I just pick and choose which pins to use-- until I get it right? Sorry if that sounds silly, but I'm clueless. Also, most likely since the motherboard has good onboard sound I could just not use the Audigy, and use what's already there. BUt the problem is similar. The mobo has a connector with 10 pins: 2 rows of 5 pins) called 'FP_AUDIO'. This is supposed to be used for connecting the mobo to an Intel front panel audio cable. By default there are 2 jumpers on it, but the pins are labeled as follows (from left to right): Top Row: AGND, +5VA, BLINE_OUT_R, (no label), BLINE_OUT_L Bottom Row: MIC@, MICPWR, Line out_R, NC, Line out_L The 2 jumpers are on: BLINE_OUT_R/ Line out_R and BLINE_OUT_L/Line out_L Any clue which pins are the ones I need? Thanks again. Quote
FPCH Admin AWS Posted February 6, 2004 FPCH Admin Posted February 6, 2004 You'll have to move them around until you hit the correct combo. Line line out would be for speakers and line in for mic. Probably 2 pins for each. Is there any markings on the female connectors? There should be marker in and out with mic pin being marked different. Quote Off Topic Forum - Unlike the Rest
GavinO Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 The pins for the breakout box usually aren't the ones for other internal connections. On my SoundBlaster, at least, there is a row of connectors across the top edge of the card, complete with the keys to align and engage the connectors. I found this pick of the audigy, not sure if its the model you have, but I circled the connectors: http://www.rpi.edu/~olsong/soundblaster.jpg Quote -The Gavster Three students died that year at the academy; one was executed, one was killed in a training accident, and one died of natural causes, for a knife to back will naturally kill anyone. -RA Salvatore Like to IRC? rtyle Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 I am having the same problem (same case, same mobo). Did you ever get this problem resolved? If so, please post the resolution. Thanks! Quote
lilson Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Hi there, found this thread via Google the Great and am having similar problems with the same board. I've got the Mic and Earphone jacks at the front of my PC case that convert into 4 female leads - white, red, black and orange. The motherboard has onboard sound with the layout you described previously. I found this website that has great diagrams for connecting up ports to MoBos, but cannot quite seem to get it right. http://www.frontx.com/order2.html This one seems the closest, but the number of wires dont quite match - http://www.frontx.com/cpx110.html Quote
lilson Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Kindly Tsunami the case manufacturers sent me a diagram showing what the four coloured leads correspond to. Hopefully this will be the same for yours. Yellow - MIC Red - R OUT White - L OUT Black - GROUND Quote
Slowmo Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Is there a way to get both the rear sound and front sound plugs to work at the same time on this motherboard sound? Quote
