cool_jini Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 Hi, I just built a new system. I got a new Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm ide hd with 160gb space. I booted directly form the Winxp pro sp1 CD and it formatted the drive with NTFS. But the problem is, when it asked me if I wanted to format, it only showed the 1 partition( which is fine) with 130GB (not fine). Then after formatting and loading everthing, when I went into My Comp and saw the disk size it showed 127GB. What happened to my 33 GBs? Can anyone help. I figure I need to partition the drive. But will I have to reformat everything for this and again install windows? How do I go about this and recover my lost space too? Quote

SuBX3r0 Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 isn't xp only capable of seeing drives of 137 gigs without sp1? a guy just told me you could "slipstream" sp1 into the install, not sure how this is done however. try installing sp1 and the rest of the drive should show up? not sure exactly how this works, don't have any drives larger than 80gigs atm.
