Guest JeffHoleman Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I purchased the Windows 8 operating system for Lenovo Computer. I installed the software with no problem. After a few months and several updates, the operating system began to have problems. I reinstalled the system with no problem and everything seemed fine for a few months. After this 2nd installation, I received messages from the app store to update to Windows 8.1 which I did and almost immediately I began having problems which ultimately led to my hard drive crashing. I have replaced the hard drive on my computer and now need to reinstall the operating system that I purchased. When the Windows menu appears for installation I receive the message "The product key is no longer valid" please enter a valid product key. There is no option for entering the product key which is included in the box. I don't know how to reinstall my operating system. What are my options? Thanks, Jeff Continue reading... Quote
Rich-M Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Is your disk Windows 8 or 8.1 as the codes from 8 will not work in 8.1? Quote
FPCH Admin allheart55 Cindy E Posted July 14, 2014 FPCH Admin Posted July 14, 2014 You say you purchased the Windows 8 operating system from Lenovo. Was it an upgrade disk? If so, (second installation) you must have a previous operating system on the computer (such as Windows 7) or the upgrade disk will not work. Rich-M Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Oh yes if it is an upgrade then you need to install iot twice to do a full install with an upgrade disk. First time through you have to do with no code as temporary trial install, Then in Windows upgrade the install and this time enter the code. Quote
