Apple is reportedly increasing the amount of time buyers of its iPhone and iPad products can take before choosing whether or not to purchase its $99 AppleCare+ extended support from 30 days to 60 days.

The new policy, which was previously rumored, will certainly give buyers of Apple's two biggest hardware products more time to decide if they really want to pay close to $100 for AppleCare+. The program adds two more years of support for its products, along with replacement plans if an owner breaks an iPhone or iPad up accidentally up to two times. The new 60 day period will be available everywhere except for Japan, where it will remain at just 30 days.

At the same time, Apple is ditching a cheaper version of AppleCare+ that offered support but not accidental replacement plans, starting today in the U.S, Canada and Japan and later in other parts of the world. The changes are not yet available on Apple's website but 9to5Mac.com reports that AppleCare phone support and Apple Store support employees will get the information about the changes to AppleCare+ sometime today. These changes are just for the iPhone and iPad and don't affect Mac, iPods or other Apple hardware devices.

What do you think about these changes to AppleCare+ support?
