Monitor that worked previously is now blurry

Hello!

I own a 22 inch widescreen monitor, an ACER AL1714 to be exact. Previously, my monitor was working fine. But right after a power outage, as soon as it was over, my monitor flashed to life and said "auto-adjust" and now it looks blurry. Now, I'm not really sure what the problem is and I've tried looking for answers everywhere. Before, the desktop background completely filled the monitor screen, but now it's cut off, as if the screen's been magnified. And as the title suggests, the monitor just looks a lot more blurry and not as it usually was.

I've system restored, changed the screen refresh to 75, made sure the monitor is on 32-bit, but nothing is working. I also tried downloading the latest windows updates, and searching for new drivers for my monitor.

Something that is a little confusing as well is, after trying to up my screen resolution, I see it can only go up to 1280 by 1024, but my monitor says it can go to 1680 x 1050. To make sure this is the case, I know my desktop background image is 1680 x 1050, but now since it's locked at 1280 by 1024 it's cut off. Additional info is that I have to use and adapter for the monitor to work with my laptop, as the monitor doesn't have an HDMI port. However, this has never affected anything.

Anything is helpful, thank you.
