Guest robert d trout Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Original Title - *** Email address is removed for privacy *** I bought a new computer from microcenter last sat. Set it up Monday evening when I came home Tuesday afternoon it locked itself up on an automatic update. When I called the store for tech support they told me to bring it back to the store . I took it back they didn't attempt to service or reboot at the store but just gave me another. Early this sunday morning the 29th I happed to catch it in the automatic update process and it stopped again . It got as far as 98% configured then gave a message update failed. It gave another message reconfiguring don't shut down computer. After about 30-40 minutes it did at least come back to the sign in screen to reboot from. After I got it running again I disabled the automatic updates. Tried to talk with tech support they seemed to act clueless as to the problem even though when I check online there are all kinds of people having update issues with the windows 8. I've read online to disable other programs and plugins . On the first computer I ha not even had time to add any programs and no plug in devices other than the mouse and the keyboard that were packaged with the computer. Ive loaded a Cubase recording program on the 2nd computer thinking the problem was resolved.
