Blitz Media Player (was: Windows Security Center)

Hi , I'm new to this Q and A community so I'll try my best at it . I have been getting pop-up adds by Blitz Media Player that offers all kinds of things from cars to downloads . I tried blocking it on my internet options , but to no avail . I run an anti virus by Avast and a Program called Malware bites and both do a good job except for blocking this one pop-up . I have tried to turn on my Windows Firewall , but it will not activate . My security center for windows will not up-date or activate . Sooooo what do I do ? Does any one know of a good free firewall download ? Thanks ....Ron
