windows xp wont start

I went to use my computer (desk top) and I could not find the courser, I moved the mouse and clicked, still nothing, so I held the off button down until it shut down, then I went to start the computer and it went threw the normal checks, but windows never started, and then it looped back to the ram checks? so I pushed F8 like I read on this site and I tried safe mode, still the same problem, then I selected "Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure". and it never gave me a code, no blue screen, and it continue to restart, I tried it several times hoping to get a code, it just continues to restart, no changes have been made to the computer, I did try last configuration also..... Help Please
